Should You Go See Endgame Encore in Theaters? Yes, But Not For the Reason You Might Think!
It’s a stroke of genius by Disney to release Endgame back into theaters ahead of Doomsday, which releases on December 18. It was also smart for the Russo brothers to add connecting scenes in Endgame Encore that lead to the new movies since Doomsday is a direct sequel.
But the question everyone is asking is, should I pay the Imax or Infinity Vision money to go see it in theaters? Is it worth it for the Doomsday scenes? And my answer is… No. The Doomsday scenes aren’t so compelling that you need to sit through 3 hours of Endgame to see them and the shots themselves aren’t necessarily more cool or revealing than the trailers for Doomsday. That said, I still think you should go see Endgame in theaters. Not for Doomsday, but to reconnect you to the story you loved back in 2019. And that in itself is going to make Doomsday a better experience for you.
And another reason to go watch. It’s a reminder of how good movies movies can be. Michael aside, if Infinity War or Endgame were released this year in theaters, it’s already the best movie of the year. Spiderman Brand New Day may have made $2.5 Billion, but Endgame alone is a far superior movie. And when you combine with with a viewing of Infinity War like I did with the family, then it’s pure magic.
