Gremlins, a Christmas movie with three simple rules for your new pet: No water, no food after midnight and no bright lights. Or you'll turn that cute pet into nightmare fuel. The first one was made in 1984 and The New Batch was made in 1990\. So it's been 36 years since we've had a Mogwai on the bring screen, but it seems Warner Brothers is bringing back gizmo or perhaps one of his relatives.

A very short teaser for Gremlins 3 is making the rounds with what looks like practical puppetry of Gizmo in Billy's original rucksack peeking out. And like everything else Warner Bros. has going on, people are wondering if Gremlins 3 will survive the paramount Buy Out. It's a great question, but fans who have been waiting for years shouldn't worry because Gremlins 3 isn't the sort of project that gets canceled.

The biggest reason is the original writer Chris Columbus is directing the movie from his own draft (with Hannah Marx on the script), and Stephen Spielberg is producing as part of Amblin Entertainment. If Spielberg and Columbus (Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Harry Potter) wants to make this movie, it's going to happen. Amblin has plenty of clout and if for some reason Sky Dance (the new name for Paramount/Warner Brothers) doesn't want to make it, there are plenty of studios who will step up.

As Columbus likes to say, "you don't make a sequel to make a sequel, you make one because there's more story to tell."

Gremlins 3 was moved from November 19, 2027 to October 6, 2028, which pushes it past the Paramount Warner Bros. merger closing. And with Sky Dance CEO David Ellison promising 30 movies a year out of Warner Bros. studios he can hardly afford to pull the a Gremlins sequel off the shelf being made by the original team, let alone a Hollywood legend.
